On Make Life Work I’ll be talking about people, culture and everything ‘humanity’ (animals, too – they’re part of humanity). It might sound like a mix between and self-help show and a cultural anthropology class.
After 35 years as a family, child, and relationship counselor I have quite a few observations and ideas to share. I’ll talk about culture, how we shape it and how it traps us. I’ll weave in current events to see how we get sucked into sensationalism and look at how the expectations of social groups, families and even political affiliations impact how we think, feel and behave. I’ll have some tips on how to avoid being sheep and become ourselves.
I think it’s impossible to separate the nature of people and the influence of society, they are intertwined. We all have a little something we have to deal with and may get in the way of our success, happiness or self-esteem. We all have areas where we could improve as a person or the direction of our lives. Society can’t change if people don’t grow as humans and people won’t change if society fails to evolve. We need to attend to both – the health of society and the health of people.
I’ll be interviewing folks from different backgrounds, businesses and situations with no real rhyme or reason but I’ll bring it all back to how they made their way in life, what worked and what didn’t, and their insights. My hope for this show is that listeners will get to relax a little, learn a couple things and laugh.
Please tune in every Monday at 1 PM Pacific Time on the VoiceAmerica Empowerment Channel to listen.
