Education:
- Associate of Art Degree in child development from Sacramento City College California.
- BA in Psychology from Chico State University California
- Masters in Psychology from Sonoma State University California.
- A couple semesters in a Pre-Doctoral Program in Psychology and Educational Psychology at State University of New York at Albany. 35 years of continuing education courses from trauma, symptoms and treatment; child abuse treatment; sex abuse treatment; sex offender treatment, cognitive-behavioral treatment, neurofeedback equipment and much more.
Experience:
- Volunteered in daycares, afterschool programs, for children with disabilities and peer counseling with a child burn victim.
- Co-developed a specialized foster program, and trained foster families and grandparents raising grandchildren.
- Worked in group homes with abused children, teens with criminal histories, pregnant teens and teen parents. I moved from on-line staff, to therapist, to social worker to program director.
- Worked with juvenile sex offenders in residential treatment and adults court mandated to therapy.
- Worked with highway patrol, police officers, sheriff deputies, fire fighters, emergency response workers, and county employees.
- Worked with teens in Juvenile Hall on various charges and commitments.
- Worked in agencies in Northern California and New York with people from different cultures.
- Worked with people from all economic levels, from the homeless to professionals and business owners.
- Clinical supervisor for 20 years.
- Board officer for the California Coalition on Sexual Offending (CCOSO), and a clinical member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders (ATSA).
- Incorporated two California corporations. A 501 (C)(3) non-profit and an S-corp.
- Opened and ran a counseling agency since 2000.
- Wrote grants and was awarded over a total of 1 million dollars from 2000 to 2016.
- Developed programs for other agencies, the complete infrastructure of an office (administrative and clinical forms, personal policies and procedures, and training manuals, etc.)
- Published articles in small periodicals and started a newsletter to promote the counseling agency that was fun and interesting.
- Specialized in child abuse treatment, counseling children and teenagers, couples, families, career and business counseling, trauma treatment and grief and loss. I used cognitive-behavioral therapy, and a commonsense and practical approach to helping people discover what makes them tick and learn new tools to make changes. Everyone has issues and everyone can grow.
